In addition, Dr French keeps a look out for any local activities that are suitable and arranges with appropriate staff and family helpers to take residents or enjoy these events.
Safety is always of paramount importance and we always make sure that the event and venue facilities meet the correct criteria for each residents’ mobility, personal likes and dislikes and is a valuable experience for those participating.
Some such activities include:
- Meals in local restaurants
- Trips to seaside resorts
- Visits to local garden centres and places of interest
- Theatre and arts related events
- Visits to the local Arts Depot
- Arts and Crafts fairs
- Other topical exertions
A number of fund raising activities are held throughout each year.
The Committee and management decide on a variety of special additional activities, lovely luxuries and new ideas to which the raised funds can be applied.
The 100 Club has been set up to raise money annually. Each number, from 1-100, costs £12 to purchase and two numbers are drawn for monthly prizes of £25 and £10.
The fund raising programme includes raffles, competitions amongst the staff and specific events. We hold 2 quiz evenings, one in the Spring and the second usually in October. They prove to be very popular and Emily’s food served on these occasions is a major attraction. A Table Top Sale is held late spring, early summer when refreshments are available, home-made cakes and food is sold and stalls are set up selling new and second hand items. Our Summer BBQ party is enjoyed by many residents, families, friends and we are usually privileged to have our MP and Barnet councilors in attendance.
