Our Chef, Emiliana (Emily) Umali, heads the catering team. She has been working at Dr French for 20 years with an exemplary attendance record as well as wide ranging culinary skills. Emily discusses the likes, dislikes and special requirements with all new residents (and/or their families)

Social dining

Enjoying a meal with others in a convivial atmosphere is important and the many extra additions to the dining area contribute to the pleasure. Family and friends are always welcome to join us for lunch and supper.

Fresh food prepared on site

All our meat and fish is sourced locally from a reputable butcher and fish monger. Emily shops to purchase only the best fruit and vegetables.

Birthdays & Special Events

We at Dr French never forget our residents’ birthdays personally which are always marked with a cake baked by Emily and a celebration enjoyed by all.

A typical day’s refreshments and meals

For a pleasant start to the day, all our residents are offered early morning tea or coffee in their bedroom. All meals are served in the residents’ dining rooms.

Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day as well as light snacks and drinks during the night.

A typical breakfast:
Beverages Various fruit juices, tea, coffee, Ovaltine, milky coffee, hot chocolate, Horlicks
Hot breakfast Full English Breakfast (bacon, eggs, sausage, tomato)
Eggs (boiled, poached, scrambled, fried)
Kippers
Porridge

Mid-Morning:
Beverages & Snacks Freshly prepared smoothie
Selection of patisseries and biscuits
Tea, coffee and hot chocolate

A typical lunch:
Starters Three starters are offered, one of which is always a homemade soup
Main course Choice of meat or fish such as roast lamb, roast pork or baked cod
Served with potatoes, seasonal vegetables and condiments to taste
Dessert A selection such as strawberry gateau, banana split, ice cream

Mid-afternoon:
Beverages & Snacks Freshly prepared smoothie
Selection of patisseries and biscuits
Tea, coffee and hot chocolate

A typical supper:
Supper Selection of sandwiches ; a light meal such as salmon salad
Dessert Profiteroles, selection of yogurts, cheese board

Wine:
Wine A selection of wines is offered at mealtimes (if medical condition permits, of course)
