Despite the somewhat wet summer, thankfully Sunday 1st July was dry, sunny and warm for our annual garden party and barbeque, which was enjoyed by over 100 residents and guests.
Chairwoman Trish Shutler presents Tony Lashmar with a thank you gift for his running of the 2009 London Marathon, the proceeds of which were generously donated to the home.
Tony’s busy schedule meant this was the first time he’d been able to join us for the presentation!

Councillor Richard Cornelius and his wife Councillor Alison Cornelius presented our eldest resident Miss Nancy Duff with a bouquet to celebrate her 102nd birthday. Standing behind Nancy is Florence Somers, manager of the home.
Tea for 2 at the House of Commons was kindly donated by Mike Freer, MP for Finchley and Golders Green. Here, its being auctioned by committee member Keith Reeve.
The lucky winners of the Arsenal football, signed by all the squad members, with committee member ony Ward who obtained the special prize – it even came in an Arsenal carrier bag!

To round off a memorable afternoon, our face-painter come children’s entertainer Loz revealed another of her talents, playing the guitar, as she led a sing-along session with those who braved the late afternoon chill.
